Matt, velvet, satin, enamel: the choice of finish shapes the look as much as the durability. Here's how to choose by room.
Matt
Elegant and deep, matt hides small wall defects well. The downside: it is less washable. Ideal for ceilings, bedrooms and lightly used living rooms.
Velvet (matt satin)
A very popular compromise: a slight sheen, a handsome look and better resistance to washing than matt. Perfect for living spaces and hallways.
Satin
Brighter and washable, satin stands up to marks and damp. Recommended for kitchens, bathrooms, children's rooms and high-traffic areas.
Enamel (gloss)
Very hard-wearing and washable, enamel is kept for woodwork (doors, frames, skirting boards) and damp rooms. Its finish shows off joinery.
In short
- Ceilings and bedrooms: matt
- Living spaces and hallways: velvet
- Kitchen, bathroom, children's rooms: satin
- Woodwork: enamel

Frequently asked questions
Does the finish change the price?
Only marginally: it's mainly the preparation and the number of coats that drive the price. We advise the finish best suited to each room.
